Perry Orders Fast Track for Pre-Abortion Sonograms

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Gov. Rick Perry has declared an emergency issue of efforts to require a woman considering an abortion to first have a sonogram.

The Texas House received the official filing from Perry Monday. He first announced the plan Saturday at an anti-abortion rally in front of the Capitol.

Perry said that allowing a woman to understand “what’s truly at stake seems a small step to take.”

Making the issue an emergency item allows lawmakers to begin considering the legislation in the first 30 days of the legislative session.

Perry has also has declared emergencies of plans to protect private property owner rights, abolishing sanctuary cities in Texas, requiring voters to present proof of identification when voting and efforts to add a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Oh wow! Like women didn’t know what being pregnant means :/

I wonder where the economy rates on the this emergency scale…

What annoys me so much about the pro-life folks is they’re such hypocrites. One Idaho pharmacist refused to fill a prescription to stop bleeding, suspecting the woman may have had an abortion (see change.org: http://womensrights.change.org/blog/view/pharmacist_denies_anti-bleeding_medication_because_woman_might_have_had_an_abortion)

Meanwhile, George W. Bush had no problem sending young people to die in Iraq and Afghanistan. But as one cartoonist put it, “No stem cells were hurt” (killing unborn “people”).

Pat Robertson opposes a woman’s right to choose abortion in America. But he supported forced abortions in China.

Are these folks pro-life, or do they really just want to control women and their bodies? http://broadblogs.com/2010/08/24/are-you-pro-life-or-do-you-just-want-to-control-women/
