WTAW Adds Fox News Radio

WTAW Radio is adding Fox News Radio news at the top of the hour, effective Sunday, October 3.

The addition of Fox News brings to an end the station’s six-year relationship with ABC Radio News.

Listeners will notice a change at the beginning of each hour when the Fox newscasts begin running, including a slightly longer newscast.

WTAW’s ABC affiliation was always limited to carrying the network’s entertainment-package news, which focused less on hard news. The limitation was in place because another radio station in the Bryan-College Station market already has the rights to the traditional ABC newscast.

WTAW dropped CBS Radio News in favor of  ABC in 2004. The move was in response to listener feedback following the revelation that then-CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather had relied on falsified documents to question President George W. Bush’s service in the Air National Guard.
